
Chris Law MP has been the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Dundee Central, previously Dundee West, since his election in the 2015 General Election. He ha since been re-elected in 2017, 2019 and 2024.
The Dundee Central seat encompasses the Dundee City Council wards of Lochee, the West End, Strathmartine, Coldside and Maryfield, with some parts of the city’s East End ward and a very small part of The Ferry ward also included.
Westminster Parliament currently has powers over areas including defence and foreign affairs, broadcasting, International Development, energy policy, Universal Credit and Child Support, fiscal and economic policy, social security including pensions, immigration and passports. Chris is the SNP’s Westminster Business, Trade and Development Spokesperson. He previously sat on the Scottish Affairs Select Committee from 2015-2017, and on the International Development Committee from 2017-2024. He chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Guantanamo Bay and the APPG for Tibet.
Prior to his election, Chris Law ran the Spirit of Independence Campaign with his Green Goddess Fire Engine. He previously studied as a French Chef, and graduated with a degree in Cultural and Social Anthropology from the University of St Andrews. He has previously run his own businesses, including motorbike tours of the Himalayas and as a mortgage adviser in Dundee.
